This has been shared at the Sunday Services today by our Layleader, also Campaign Director, Mr George Lau.

In the last few weeks you may have heard the term “40 Days of Purpose Campaign”. When you enter the church premises this morning, you may have noticed banners and posters hung on different locations about the said campaign.

Now, what is 40 Days of Purpose Campaign? Simply put, it is a spiritual growth emphasis campaign involving the entire church. During the 40 Days of Purpose every age group, Sunday school and every worship service will focus on the same thing together: God’s purposes for our lives. Engaging the church as a whole ensures a shared vision and fully unleashes the power of God’s purposes during our Days journey and beyond.

What on earth am I here for?

During 40 days, we will rediscover God’s five eternal purposes for our lives:

Worship – we were planned for God’s pleasure
Fellowship – we were formed for God’s family
Discipleship – we were created to become like Christ
Ministry – we were shaped for serving God
Evangelism – we were made for a mission

Through the campaign, we will learn to live out God’s five purposes for our life on a daily basis. Imagine what could happen in our church if every one of our members began to live out God’s five purposes on a daily basis.

This campaign is all about the Kingdom of God, fulfilling His agenda in His world. Nothing brings more glory to God than having His churches, small groups, and His people fulfilling His purposes.

The campaign is designed around four vital habits that everyone needs to grow spiritually: the habit of weekly worship attendance, a daily quiet time, a weekly group Bible study, and a weekly scripture memory verse. These habits will keep us growing long after 40 Days of Purpose is finished.

Each of the messages are designed to cause people to become “doers of the Word, and not hearers only.”

Each sermon has either a homework assignment or event after the service, like the Ministry Fair or Missions Fair, where members can take action on what they’ve learned.

This is what Rick Warren, the senior pastor of Saddleback Church, one of the largest churches in USA has to say, “In our 24-year history, nothing else has produced more life change in our church than 40 Days of Purpose. It has transformed our church and mobilized our members in ways we never dreamed of.”

40 Days of Purpose has a track record of changing lives and churches. Over 12,000 churches in US and other countries have now participated in 40 Days of Purpose. Many of these churches have reported that it was the most transforming event in their congregation’s history. The average growth in worship attendance is 20% and average increase in groups formed is 102%. Hundreds of pastors have written, “Our church will never be the same” and “This is the greatest thing that has ever happened in our church.” One pastor wrote, “ I’ve seen more growth in our members and our church in 40 days than in the previous 13 years.” Through 40 Days of Purpose, a new spirit of unity, vision and purpose has swept through many congregations.

How to prepare for the campaign?

1. Pray – it is an indispensable ingredient. Prayer is the most important component for 40 Days of Purpose. Our whole campaign must be saturated in prayer. Pray that God will prepare our hearts for awakening.
2. Participate – join a cell/small group or fellowship group for weekly group bible study. Invite friends, colleagues and church members who are not in a cell group to join one.
3. Worship service – attend the weekly worship service.
4. Memory verses – memorize a weekly scripture verse
5. Exponential thinking – expects God to do something that’s never been done before in our church.

What end results do we want to see?

1. Wesleyans will center their lives on God, not themselves and live a lifestyle of worship for the glory of God.
2. Wesleyans will connect with other believers and experience real fellowship.
3. Wesleyans will cultivate spiritual maturity and godly character.
4. Wesleyans will contribute something back to the church by using their talents in ministry.
5. Wesleyans will communicate God’s love to others and develop a heart for the lost.

  3. Dear bro George Lau,
I know you personally and I strongly believe that God is using you very much in Wesley. I am very glad that you all are doing this 40 DOP campaign. It is going to make a difference for Jesus.
Do you fix goals for this campaign? It should be shown somewhere in this blog.
I will also remember you all in prayers.
    God bless.
